Spencer Whalen, CEBS
Volunteer Leader role: Co-Director of Partnerships
Spencer has been on the HR Virginia State Council for four years, previously holding the SHRM Foundation Director role before moving to Co-Director of Partnerships in 2024. He has worked in Human Resources for the past eleven years, and he currently works for OneDigital as a Sr. Business Development Executive. Spencer calls the DCSHRM chapter home.
If there is a piece of advice Spencer would offer for someone trying to enter the HR field, it is to go into Benefits! He enjoys the work he does with other HR professionals in effort to build and offer comprehensive and valuable benefits packages to their employees.
Spencer says the HR community is what inspires him to be a volunteer leader; he greatly values the connections and friendships he has made because of this awesome community!
Outside of work, Spencer enjoys travel. You can find him exploring various destinations near and far with his friends and family. When he is at home, he loves to take off for long walks around beautiful Washington, D.C. with his beloved corgi, Rafiki.
Spencer’s engaging and positive personality are infectious, and it’s no wonder that he excels at bringing wonderful partners to HR Virginia. You will see him running around the Partner Marketplace making sure we have met the needs of our amazing and supportive partners throughout each conference.
