Special Virtual Seminar: Getting Talent Back to Work
May 5, 2021 | Noon – 1:00 pm
In this session hosted by DC SHRM, the SHRM Foundation and Getting Talent Back to Work Subject Matter Expert, Dr. Genevieve Rimer from the Center for Employment Opportunities will discuss the value of second chance talent in the workplace. Specifically, Dr. Rimer will provide context to the challenges facing previously incarcerated candidates and the best practices for incorporating a DEI strategy that includes this critical population. Dr. Rimer will be joined by Aaron Franklin. Mr. Franklin is the Program Manager for the Center for Employment Opportunities who serves as a subject matter expert for the second chance population.
Through this training participants will be able to:
- Prepare to eliminate discrimination against candidates-for-hire by opening their hiring practices to be more inclusive of those with criminal and/or conviction records.
- Educate colleagues and peers on the benefits of second chance hiring.
- Assess and evaluate their company’s commitment to promoting and practicing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the hiring of individuals with criminal and/or conviction records.
- Employ second chance best practices throughout the employee life cycle.
