Local chapters often ask about creative ways to encourage connection and networking opportunities for their members, and Prince William SHRM shared a great idea they implemented: a Paint Night!
The chapter recently hosted a painting party at Muse Paint Bar. The event was sold out, and participants enjoyed the opportunity to connect in a laid back, non-traditional setting. Led by a trained artist, everyone got to show off their artistic skills… (or lack thereof, in their own opinions,) and everyone left with their own unique work of art to display in their homes or offices.
Chapter members were encouraged to bring guests so they could showcase the value Prince William SHRM offers as an award-winning affiliate of SHRM. As a result, 46% of the guests were non-members who learned about the chapter and its mission to “Enhance the capabilities of HR professionals who live and/or work in our community.”
By the end of the evening, attendees had made new professional and personal connections, enjoyed camaraderie with HR peers, and some delighted in discovering the artist within. The evening was a huge success, one might even say a work of art! To learn more about Prince William SHRM and how you can join in the fun, visit their website.
This successful event showcases the opportunities chapters have to think outside the box and make networking fun. Does your chapter have a creative networking event idea you’d like to share?
